Mr. Nelson has over 20 years of experience in the asset management business with particular emphasis on sales management, and mutual fund and institutional distribution. He founded Harborside Sales Group in 2004 to provide distribution services to asset managers. Prior to forming Harborside, Mr. Nelson was the Sales Manager of Vanguard’s $100 billion third-party effort. Previously, he was the National Sales Manager of Flag Investors Funds, a $5 billion fund company sponsored by Deutsche Bank Alex. Brown. Mr. Nelson is a Certified Public Accountant and has a BS and an MBA from the University of Maryland. He maintains Series 24 and 7 licenses. Married with four children, he is the Past President of the Board of Trustees of Harford Day School and a member of the Investment Committee of The Tatnall School.
Ms. Mazzola has nearly 10 years of experience in the financial services industry, with a background in both asset management and capital market businesses. She joined Harborside as a Vice President in 2005. Prior to Harborside, Ms. Mazzola was an Associate Analyst in Equity Research at Legg Mason Wood Walker, Inc. She was a member of one of Legg Mason’s top-ranked equity analyst teams covering information technology services stocks. Prior to that role, Ms. Mazzola was the Marketing Officer of Legg Mason Trust, fsb, the proprietary trust company for Legg Mason with nearly $6 billion in assets. Before Legg Mason, Ms. Mazzola was an internal Regional Sales Representative of Flag Investors Funds, a $5 billion fund company sponsored by Deutsche Bank Alex. Brown. Ms. Mazzola has a MSF from Loyola College in Maryland and a BS from Vanderbilt University. She maintains Series 7, 63, 86, and 87 licenses. She is married with two children.
Ms. Brown, CFP® joined Harborside in 2007 with over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Harborside, Ms. Brown was a financial advisor for Smith Barney and Legg Mason where she designed portfolios for individuals and small businesses. As a certified financial planner, she has a strong knowledge of many investment products including stocks, bonds, mutual funds, annuities and insurance. A graduate of the University of Dayton, Ms. Brown holds her CFP® from the American College.
Ms. Foley has over 12 years of experience in the financial services industry with a background in marketing and communications in both the mutual fund industry and the defined contribution marketplace. She joined the marketing Harborside team in 2007. Prior to Harborside, Ms. Foley was a Senior Account Manager at Mercer HR Services managing the strategic planning and development process for global participant, and sponsor, and internal communications projects. Prior to that role, Ms. Foley was a Communications Account Executive at Putnam Investments analyzing market and client requirements to develop and implement integrated marketing communications strategies and educational programs. Before Putnam Investments, Ms. Foley was the Marketing and Productions Manager for the Flag Investors Funds, a $5 billion fund company sponsored by Deutsche Bank Alex. Brown. Ms. Foley has a BA from Loyola College in Maryland. She is married with two children.
Mrs. Hoffman recently joined Harborside in 2009 with over nine years of marketing experience. Prior to Harborside, Mrs. Hoffman worked as a Marketing Manager at Legg Mason in the Independent Advisor Division, where she was responsible for initiating, developing, promoting and distributing market programs in the intermediary channels. She also was a Marketing Manager at USA Today where she was responsible for the management of corporate national account programs and partnerships. Mrs. Hoffman has a B.A. in Corporate Communications from Elon University. She is married with one child.
Ms. McDermott joined Harborside in 2007. She graduated with a BA in Communications from Loyola College in Maryland, with a specialization in Public Relations and a minor in Marketing. In past internships, Ms. McDermott has worked in the Client Services and Marketing Department for the Aberdeen IronBirds, the Class A Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. Prior to that, she worked as an Executive Assistant for River Financial Group, a financial services firm in Cleveland, Ohio.
Mr. McDermott joined Harborside in 2008 with nearly five years of marketing and design experience. Prior to Harborside Mr. McDermott worked at Gyro Worldwide Advertising, Inc., an advertising agency in Philadelphia specializing in brand development. Mr. McDermott has also worked as a web and graphic designer for his personal design firm, offering a broad suite of marketing services. He attended the Miami Ad School Art Direction Portfolio Program and has a BA in Communications from Loyola College in Maryland, with a specialization in Advertising.
